We don't want your data. Most apps are data-mining operations disguised as useful tools. We're just a tool.
1. Local Storage (The Default)
By default, everything you do in Mitzvah Tracker stays on your device. Your mitzvahs are stored in your browser's local storage.
- We don't see your mitzvahs
- We don't see your streaks
- We don't know who you are
Warning: If you clear your browser data or reset your device, your history vanishes. Since we never had it, we can't bring it back. We recommend using the Export feature in Settings to back up your data.
2. The Leaderboard (Optional)
If you want to share your progress, you can opt-in to the global leaderboard. When you opt-in:
- We generate a random Anonymous ID for you
- You can choose a Handle (nickname) — feel free to use an alias
- We sync your total count and streak to our server
- Your approximate country is derived from your IP (not stored permanently)
You can opt out and delete your leaderboard data at any time via Settings.
3. Analytics & Infrastructure
- No Tracking: We use Cloudflare's privacy-first analytics which do not use cookies or fingerprint you
- No Cookies: This app does not use cookies or third-party tracking
- Security: We check basic server logs (like IP addresses) temporarily for maintenance and DDoS protection. These are deleted automatically
Terms of Service
1. The Deal
We provide Mitzvah Tracker for free. You use it to track mitzvahs. It's a simple arrangement. By using this app, you agree to these terms.
2. Age Requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to use this service.
3. Proper Use
Please use the app as intended:
- Track your mitzvahs honestly
- Don't manipulate the leaderboard with false data
- Don't attempt to disrupt or abuse the service
If the leaderboard is abused with offensive content, we reserve the right to remove those entries.
4. No Warranty
Everything is provided "AS IS." We aim for stability, but we don't guarantee the app will be bug-free, uninterrupted, or that the leaderboard will always be 100% accurate.
5. Limitation of Liability
We aren't liable for any loss of data or other issues arising from your use of the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you've paid us (which is nothing, since it's free).
6. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
7. Governing Law
New York law applies. We hope to resolve any issues through direct communication, but New York courts have jurisdiction over any legal disputes.
